Level 2 - Department of Magical Law Enforcement
Level Two of the Ministry of Magic houses the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Once the personnel and/or guests step out of the lift, they find themselves in a corridor lined with doors on both sides, around the corner of which there are a set of heavy oak doors leading into the Auror Headquarters: a large open area divided into small cubicles, one for each Auror.

A second set of double doors and another passage lead to a dimly lit and distinctly shabby corridor. A broom cupboard sits at the left end of the corridors, and the right side has the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office: a room of almost the same size as the cupboard with two desks and overflowing filing cabinets crammed inside.

Level 3 - Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes
The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes is responsible for repairing accidental magical damage. It is located on the third level of the Ministry of Magic and houses the offices named below.

The Accidental Magic Reversal Squad is an organised team of wizards and witches whose job it is to correct mistakes in magic, such as spells or potions gone wrong. Mistakes are normally caused by inexperienced witches and wizards, those who have not learned to control their magic, or those who may not be very skilled in using specific spells or potions.

The Obliviator Headquarters is the main office for Obliviators, wizard who have the task of modifying the memory of a Muggle after witnessing incidents caused by magic.

Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee

This committee invents excuses for the Muggle community for any magical accidents or occurrences which cannot be magically cleared up or completely obliviated. Thus, the committee will inform the Muggles community with any kind of non-magical excuses for the accidents.

Level 6 - Department of Magical Transportation
The Department of Magical Transportation is responsible for various aspects of magical transport

Offices Include:

Floo Network Authority - The Floo Network Authority is responsible for setting up and maintaining the network. They also regulate the distribution of Floo powder.

Broom Regulatory Control - The Broom Regulatory Control has the authority to determine what factors allow an individual to use and ride a broom. If a broom has been determined to be dangerous or tampered with to cause damage, this office will confiscate the broom.

Portkey Office - The Portkey Office regulates and authorises objects that are turned into portkeys as well as the network in which they are used. This would be slightly similar to the Floo Network Authority.

Apparition Test Centre -The Apparition Test Centre grants Apparition licences to qualified witches and wizards. One must be 17 to obtain such a licence. Licensure is required to prevent the likelihood of splinching. One is usually taught and tested by a qualified Ministry employee, such as is the case at Hogwarts. However, in the case of Side-Along Apparition, the accomplice does not require a licence provided they are taken by a licenced wizard.

Level 7 - Department of Magical Games and Sports
The Department of Magical Games and Sports is a department of the Ministry of Magic. It is charged with the regulation of all sport-related events in the Wizarding world.

The Department has a very relaxed ambience, the corridor off the access lift being somewhat "untidy-looking" in comparison to the other Ministerial Departments: various posters of Quidditch teams tacked lopsidedly on the walls.

Level 8 - Atrium
The Atrium, located on level 8, is a large hall with fireplaces up and down both long walls. Down the left-hand side of the hall are gilded fireplaces which witches and wizards can use to arrive at the Ministry. The right-hand side contains gilded fireplaces as well, and these are used for departures. The floor is polished dark wood. The ceiling is peacock blue with golden symbols moving across it. The Fountain of Magical Brethren lies halfway down the Atrium. A group of golden statues, depicting a wizard, a witch, a centaur, a goblin, and a house-elf, spout water into the surrounding pool of water. At the end of the Atrium is a set of golden gates, next to which is a security stand. Eric Munch is usually on duty here. He registers the wands of visitors. Another smaller hall is beyond the gates and here there is a series of lifts.

The lifts provide access to the other levels, except the tenth.

Level 9 - Department of Mysteries
The Department of Mysteries is a section of the Ministry of Magic that carries out confidential research. Most of its operations are carried out in total secrecy. Few wizards within the Ministry actually know what is located within this department, though it is learned that the various mysteries of the world are studied there, these include: love, space, thought, time, death, and others. Those wizards who work in the Department of Mysteries are known as Unspeakables because of the confidential nature of their work.

Due to the highly classified nature of this department, it is granted a great deal of independence, being the only one within the entire Ministry that does not need to answer to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Even the Minister for Magic has very little authority over the department's operation.

The Department of Mysteries lies on the second-lowest level of the Ministry of Magic, Level Nine. It is accessible via the lifts from the Ministry Atrium. This level bears a striking difference to those above: the black-tiled walls are bare with no windows and no doors, apart from a plain black one at the end of the corridor that leads into the Department proper. Light is provided only by torches, which glow with a blue-white light. A small flight of steps to the left leads to Level Ten.

Behind the black door is the Entrance Chamber, which is designed to disorient any unauthorised personnel who enter it. It is a circular room with a dark marble floor that looks almost like standing water, candles emitting a cool blue light, and twelve handleless doors. Whenever a door closes, the walls rotate, making it impossible to determine which door is which. This chamber will respond to a verbal request for an exit by the opening of the correct door.

Divisions: Brain Room, Death Chamber, Love Chamber, Space Chamber, Time Room.

Level 10 - Wizengamot
Level ten can only be reached by the stairs to the left of the door which leads to the Department of Mysteries on level nine. Dungeon-like corridors lead to Courtroom Ten. The walls of the courtroom are dark stone. In the center of the room is a chair covered in chains that stands below rows of high benches on which the Wizengamot sit.

The headquarters of the Ministry of Magic is located in the heart of London. The actual structure is all underground, although magical windows show whatever weather Magical Maintenance has chosen for the day, from bright sunshine to hurricanes.

Visitors’ Entrance
A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffiti. When the telephone in the box is dialled (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch’s voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor’s name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium.
