Welcome to Until The End. We are a moderate Harry Potter role-playing site set in the Marauder's Era. Our plot is generally derived from details in the book, but as an AU site we do take liberties most anywhere we like. Those who died in the books can have a second chance at living, and those who lived are always at risk.
Tom Marvolo Riddle has long since disappeared and in his stead Lord Voldemort has risen, bringing a small army with him. The Ministry of Magic has thus far ignored the growing menace that is the Death Eaters and Albus Dumbledore has taken it upon himself to defend the wizarding community from an evil he knows is building. War is coming. Pick a side!

The Hogwart's Express has pulled up to the station in King's Cross station and the summer holidays have officially begun. What mischeif will you get into in the warm summer sun?

Hi there! Welcome to Until the End – A Marauder Era AU role-playing board. Because joining a new site can be a daunting process, we decided to put together this guide to help you navigate. Whether you’re a role-playing veteran or just learned about the magical world of forum RPGs, we hope we can help you determine if this is the right site for you, and if it is, how to go about becoming a member. So without further ado – let’s get started.
Protip: If you are a veteran or short on time, check out “The Essentials” section at the bottom of the page.
About us
We are a brand-new site, we opened June 2018, but Slither and I (Rose) have been in the HP Forum RPG game for longer than either of us probably want to admit (hint: before the books were finished). Not entirely sure how it happened (it was magic or possibly bourbon), but we created a board and we love it – we hope you do too.
Site Lore
Timey-Whimey Plot
In case you missed it above, we are a Marauder era site, aka the time centers around Marauders (James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter) and Voldemort's first rise to power. The current year is 1975, but our timeline moved a bit differently than in the books. To get up to speed, check out the following links:
IC (In Character) time moves a bit slower than regular time. Each month is approximately 40 days long (with exception to big event months or Holidays that get an extension of 5-10 days), but you don’t have to worry about any of that because we’ve included a count down on the board. Simply hover over the left image underneath the Calendar on your Dashboard and you will see the Month, Year and how many days are left in the month.
If you hover your mouse over the right image you will see the site Census (how many members are following the Dark Lord, fighting for the Order, or are avoiding choosing a side).
Lore
We try to be fairly consistent with the books. Even though we are an AU site the verse is more or less the same. Our Site Lore page goes over how we handle the following:
Special Beings and Special Powers
Creature Lore
Spell Lore
This is meant to be a resource for character creation and role play in addition to the rules. Speaking of rules...
Rules
Read the Rules!
We want Until The End to be fun for everyone so we created some rules to keep things fair, fun, and realistic (as realistic as possible in a verse like this). The rules can be a bit lengthy, but chances are most of your questions can be answered there too. If not, we also have a question and suggestion board here. Also, it's a bit hidden, but you can toggle the chatbox at the bottom of the page to see our cbox and shoutbox.
You are responsible for knowing the rules and following the rules should you decide to create a character. If you break the rules, (depending on the severity and what rule was broken (hint: Respect is #1 for a reason)), your account can be suspended or banned, but more than likely you’ll just get a warning.
Join the Fun
Create an Account
If you do not currently have an account on Until The End and are viewing the board as a guest, then your initial view of the board includes the Information tab. You can create an account by clicking on the Dashboard tab as seen above.
Your username should be your character's first name only. This makes tagging your character in threads/elsewhere easier. If your character's first name is already taken add the first initial of their last name. If your character's first name and last initial is already taken use your character's first initial and then last name. If all else fails first name last name no spaces.
You will be given the opportunity to add a profile picture and a mini profile pic. The profile picture is 150px by 150px and the mini profile picture is 250px by 250px. If you go over the image size it will shrink to fit, but it will not stretch if you go under. GIFs are welcome.
It's a good idea to go through each tab when editing your profile to set your preferences. For example on the settings tab you can change whether or not you reply with the preview tab or the bbcode tab and if you select bbcode as your default, you have the option to add a default bbcode to your character's threads. This is nice if you like to get fancy with your posts.
Applications
The application code can be found under the Getting Started Board. You can also get to the applications area by going to your information tab which has quick links to essential areas. We have three different applications:
All applications will be submitted to the “New Applications” board for review. *Do not post applications in the regular Applications board.*
You may post an unfinished application on the board and let us know you are working on it by adding (WIP) in the title. When you are ready to have your application reviewed change (WIP) to (COMPLETE).
Applications are titled CHARACTER NAME for character apps and CHARACTER NAME – Application Type for all other applications.
It is best to fill out the application by altering the information within the brackets to avoid breaking the format, then just delete the bracket:
You will need 1 – 250px by 250px photo for the application. Search for: placehold.it/250x250 and replace it with the link to your image. If you are having trouble figuring out how to add a photo contact one of the admin and we will do our best to help you.
If your application is approved it will be moved to the appropriate section.
Claims
Claims are important and every character must do the mandatory claims within a week of their character’s acceptance and preferably before they begin IC posting.
Mandatory Claims
Canon List– Add your character to our site cannon list to keep track of all the characters.
Face Claims – Claim your PB so people know which celebrities are taken.
Birthday Claim – Everyone has a birthday, let us know what day your character was born.
Fun Claims
Homes Claim– If you need a house made, please fill out one of these claims and we will add your house to the board.
Job Claim – People gotta work, how is your character supporting themselves?
Lessons Claim – Students gotta learn, what classes does your student take?
Heads and Prefects – School Participation is vital to a good year, and looks great on resumes. Claim a position now if there are any.
Quidditch Claims – Snag a broom and come to the pitch, it’s sure to be a wild season. We will have games periodically throughout the year.
Want Ads
If you’re not sure what kind of character you’d like to bring to the site, why not check out the Want Ads? Here you’ll find requests from our current members that are looking for others to take part in their story. Want ads are great because you already have an on-board relationship and prospective plot partner waiting for you. As a courtesy please discuss the character with the person placing the want ad before taking the want ad to make sure you're on the same page.
Character Development
This is where all the fun stuff happens, well not *all* the fun stuff (that’s the actual writing). But here, you get to develop your character and expand upon things you didn’t include in your application. Mandatory
•Plotter – Your plotter is where you post a bit of information about your character and the plots and relationships you have with other characters on the board. Other members will reply to your plotter to offer relationships or plot ideas. Don’t forget to write on other plotters! And tag the person when you do.
Recommended
• Thread Tracker– The best way to stay organized and on top of all your threads is a Tracker. Additionally they act as personal timelines for your character so you can go back and remember key details in completed posts.
Fun
• Character Journal– In Character Free game. Doodle. Write. Etc, but from the perspective of your character. • Galleries – Post pictures (gifs are welcome, it’s magic after all), of your house, your family, your vacation, your pets etc. • Muse Boards – Free game. Anything that gets your muse going and relates to your character.
Alright you’ve made it this far and you are ready to start posting! Woo-hoo! We look forward to seeing you on board.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the features and boards at Until The End, it is merely meant to help you get started so you can make discoveries on your own. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or have any questions, please, PLEASE, reach out to an Admin and we’ll do our best to help you however we can. Or post in the questions section because someone else may have the same question as you do.
