Entrance Hall
"The entrance hall was so big you could have fit the whole of the Dursleys’ house in it. The stone walls were lit with flaming torches like the ones at Gringotts, the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led to the upper floors."-J.K. Rowling

The Entrance Hall, also known as the Front Hall is located on the ground floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with a wide marble staircase opposite the oak doors. Double doors to the right lead into the Great Hall and, on the other side of the hall, Slughorn's Stairs lead to the Dungeon Corridor, and another door leads to the Classroom Eleven corridor (Transfiguration is Classroom 1B). Other corridors accessed by the hall allow passage to the staffroom corridor.

Great Hall
"It was lit by thousands and thousands of candles that were floating in midair over four long tables, where the rest of the students were sitting. These tables were laid with glittering golden plates and goblets. At the top of the hall was another long table where the teachers were sitting... The hundreds of faces staring at them looked like pale lanterns in the flickering candlelight... Harry looked upward and saw a velvety black ceiling dotted with stars... It was hard to believe there was a ceiling there at all, and that the Great Hall didn't simply open on to the heaven." - J.K. Rowling

The Great Hall in the Hogwarts Castle is the main gathering area in the school, which is located off the Entrance Hall. It is a room where students and teachers dine and congregate. Three meals a day are hosted in this hall.

The Great Hall is the main place where students receive their meals and daily owl post. They also have certain special events, such as the Sorting Ceremony and the Hallowe'en Feast.

The large hall has enough space to hold every student, as well as the main staff and guests. The Hall has tall walls that reach up to the ceiling, which is covered with floating candles and enchanted to look like the sky above.

At the front of the hall is the staff table, also known as the High Table, which is designed to house the entire Hogwarts staff. In the centre of the table is a throne chair where the present Headteacher sits. At the left of the table is a door which leads a chamber with portraits.

Transfiguration Classroom
There's a notice outside the classroom that states, "Transfiguration Classroom. Treat Inanimate objects respectfully. They may be your classmates."

Classroom 1B, also known as the Transfiguration Classroom, is a classroom on the ground-floor of Hogwarts Castle, accessible from the Middle Courtyard.

The classroom is big, surrounded by high windows, has four rows of three desks, and still has enough room for several cages and bookshelves, two chalkboards, and a desk for the professor. Several candlesticks stand lit behind the desk.

Professor's Lounge
The staffroom is located on the ground-floor of Hogwarts Castle. It is a long, panelled room with mismatched, dark wooden chairs.

The entrance to this room is guarded by two stone Gargoyles that can talk.

The Ground Floor is the floor above the Dungeons/Basement and below the First floor. It contains a number of courtyards, halls and rooms.

Upon entering through the huge oak front doors of the castle, students find themselves in the vast Entrance Hall, which is dominated by a marble staircase leading up to the first floor. The giant hourglasses which mark the house points are located in the Entrance Hall.

To the right of the Great Hall is the: staff room, the caretaker’s office, and classrooms are also found on this floor, as is a courtyard where students sometimes congregate between classes. The oak front doors open out directly onto the Hogwarts grounds.
