Welcome to Until The End. We are a moderate Harry Potter role-playing site set in the Marauder's Era. Our plot is generally derived from details in the book, but as an AU site we do take liberties most anywhere we like. Those who died in the books can have a second chance at living, and those who lived are always at risk.
Tom Marvolo Riddle has long since disappeared and in his stead Lord Voldemort has risen, bringing a small army with him. The Ministry of Magic has thus far ignored the growing menace that is the Death Eaters and Albus Dumbledore has taken it upon himself to defend the wizarding community from an evil he knows is building. War is coming. Pick a side!

Dom left the pet shop with a smile on his face but the second the door shut behind him, his face fell. How was it possible that getting a summer job could be this difficult? He had already checked with both of the book shops, the quill shop, one of the clothiers, and now the pet shop. No one was hiring part time workers for the summer, either that or they’d already taken on more timely students looking for a some extra pocket money during the school holiday. Dominick scolded himself under his breath for taking a fortnight of doing nothing before bothering to look into summer employment opportunities. His dad had told him to get a move on, if he wanted to get a job, which wasn’t absolutely necessary in the eyes of his parents, but Dominick wanted to be able to go to the cinema with his mates and pop into the city for a bite with his friends. And maybe, if the opportunity arose, take a girl on a date. All of those things required money, of which the Montagues weren’t hurting for but definitely didn’t have extra just lying about to be used as he and Xander saw fit. The boys were given an allowance of two sickles each per week, and that was enough for a movie or a dinner, but certainly not both and definitely not enough for tickets to the football match he wanted to go to in late August. Determined, Dominick headed toward the next shop, a pleasant smile once again on his face.
"Well, hello there. You look like a bad decision, come on over here."

perfectly made for an imperfect walk...
It was true; Madam Malkin’s really did have a robe for all occasions.
Or at least it should have if Olivia was to believe the advertisements. Yet here she was, spending the past twenty minutes haphazardly searching through the racks of premade robes and travel cloaks – hoping to find something nice, something new, and something cute to buy. There wasn’t any special reason to buy new robes; she didn’t have anywhere to wear them and the ones she already owned fit her just fine. Though like most young witches with a pocket of coins to burn (and no real reason to spend it), Olivia simply wanted to shop.
Granted the need for her shopping excursion probably had more to do with the avoidance of her sole responsibility this summer: to find a job. She wasn’t particularly excited to spend her summer days wasting away behind a counter; trying to peddle a new shawl to some middle-aged house witch or a new beauty tonic to a self-conscious, acne-prone teen. Olivia wanted something more exciting than what the shops of Diagon Alley had to offer her. She didn’t know what exactly that would entail, but she would figure it out like everything else in life.
So no, Olivia was not keen on finding a summer job today. Today was about having fun. Next week, she would start looking for a job before Damian or her parents started asking too many questions.
Riffling through her fifth rack, Olivia was beginning to think that Madam Malkin’s really didn’t have anything she was looking for. Perhaps they only had robes for witches and wizards with a particular occasion in mind to wear them. She briefly deliberated on a ruby red dress robe in an emerald trim, but ultimately decided that she didn’t want to wait until the holidays to wear it. Then there was the ungodly citrus green travel cloak that Olivia passed by without a second glance. Bright green was never her color – it made her look sickly and washed-out.
Nearing the end of the rack (and her patience with the store), Olivia noticed a navy blue travel cloak. It was a lovely shade of navy blue with a silver trim, and it looked to be the right length for her. She pulled it out from the rack and held it up to get a better view of the garment.
“This is cute, right?” she absently asked aloud to no one in particular. Did she really need another travel cloak? The two she already had were fine – one standard black cloak for school and her other dark purple cloak worked well for everything else. Upon glancing at the price tag, Olivia saw the pretty blue cloak was also on sale. “This is cute,” she decided. It never hurt to have an extra travel cloak or two; it provided variety in her wardrobe.
After paying the shop keeper for her cloak, Olivia left the store feeling quite pleased with her purchase. She would find somewhere to wear it this summer or maybe save it for a weekend at Hogsmeade once school was back in session. She wasn’t too worried about it. For now, however, Olivia was content to wander Diagon Alley and do a little window shopping. If anything else caught her fancy, maybe she would buy that too.
Glancing through the large display window of the Magical Menagerie, Olivia watched as two calico kittens tumbled around with one another. She was almost ready to enter the store to see what other new animals there were to look at (and maybe play with) when she saw a familiar dirty-blond haired wizard exit the door. Olivia watched as a series of emotions flickered across his face before settling on the easygoing smile that she was so accustomed to him to seeing him with. He was quick, however, to not loiter in front of the Menagerie and instead head to his next destination.
“Dominick!” Olivia called out to him hurriedly, hoping to catch the boy’s attention before he disappeared into the Diagon Alley crowd.

“Dominick!” His name carried over the crowd of shoppers and caught him off-guard. He turned to look behind him, to see who had called his name, and scanned the faces for only a short moment before breaking into a wide grin. “Hey!” he replied happily, beginning to weave the short distance through the light crowd to meet Olivia back in front of the shop he’d just come out of. “Fancy running into you here.” He noticed the shopping bag in her hand and asked the obligatory obvious question. “Shopping?”

perfectly made for an imperfect walk...
Olivia triumphantly held up the bag that contained her spoils from Madam Malkin’s; quite pleased to show Dominick that her day spent shopping was so far a success. Any frustration she originally felt while rummaging through the clothing store had dissipated and she felt nothing, if not delighted, with her purchase. Granted it was to be short-lived happiness, but it helped to forget about other more pressing responsibilities.
“Of course,” answered Olivia as she reached with her free arm to give Dominick a quick hug. “I got the cutest traveling cloak at Malkin’s. It’s perfect for winter trips to Hogsmeade.”
Olivia didn’t know if Dominick really cared what she had bought – at least not any more than your typical teenage boy probably cared – but it still didn’t mean she wasn’t going to tell him. She liked talking to Dominick; he was a likeable bloke who was armed with a couple of jokes and fun to hang out with (even if the conversation did sometimes turn to that muggle sport he was so fond of). He was also one of her more easygoing friends who she could always count on never shying away from a good time. So because of that, Olivia told Dominick a lot of things regardless if he was interested or not.
But it didn’t change the fact that Dominick just left the Magical Menagerie too. Perhaps he was on his own personal shopping excursion today as well.
“Are you thinking about buying a pet?” she asked him, bouncing slightly from foot to foot with growing excitement. “Oh you should think about a kitten! The Menagerie has some adorable ones in the window. I quite think the chubbier of the two is a winner. Yeah, he gets a little winded easily, but he’s got spunk.”
