Welcome to Until The End. We are a moderate Harry Potter role-playing site set in the Marauder's Era. Our plot is generally derived from details in the book, but as an AU site we do take liberties most anywhere we like. Those who died in the books can have a second chance at living, and those who lived are always at risk.
Tom Marvolo Riddle has long since disappeared and in his stead Lord Voldemort has risen, bringing a small army with him. The Ministry of Magic has thus far ignored the growing menace that is the Death Eaters and Albus Dumbledore has taken it upon himself to defend the wizarding community from an evil he knows is building. War is coming. Pick a side!

Being forgotten
Eli can be a bit of a pompous ass, but he has a good heart deep down. In school, he was sorted swiftly into Slytherin House and still embodies many of the qualities that Salazar Slytherin thought so important. Eli knows what he wants and will work tirelessly to achieve his goals. He prefers taking the legal route, whenever possible, but he wouldn't get very far if he didn't also consider illegal alternatives as an option. Having been raised by a politician, and then following in his father's footsteps, Eli is highly skeptical of most people. He trusts very few people, though history has proven this distrust to be well earned more than paranoia, but if you can manage to gain his loyalty you would find yourself with an excellent ally.
History
Born on a warm summer day, Elias Ainsley Bullstrode was instantly the pride of the Bulstrode family. Benedict Bulstrode and his new wife Ester welcomed their little bundle with great fanfare. Elias was the first heir to the Bulstrode legacy after all (followed by a smattering of cousins), sure to be a political dynasty and follow in Ben's footsteps as the Head of the Auror Department.
Unable to keep up with the pressures of being a politician's wife, Ester and Ben divorced when Elias was only three. Ester expressed her desire to raise Eli privately, away from the limelight of politics and from the strict values the Bulstrodes had enforced on her during her time in the family. Benedict, with the means and resources available to a man of his standing, won custody of their son in a brutal divorce and custody battle. Some claim Benedict's position in the Ministry had more to do with his victory than any merits presented to the court in favor of his role as a father, nevertheless, Esther was forced to leave her son with the Bulstrodes, only spending time with the boy on holidays and the occasional special weekend.
Esther went on to marry again several years later, and Eli was given a half-brother not long after his eighth birthday. The boys were close, despite their age difference and their completely opposite personalities. Rafe was timid and shy, and Elias would often push him towards others in an attempt to encourage him to be more outgoing. Their time together was intermittent, Elias was at school by the time Rafe was old enough to really play, and Eli took on a sort of protector role for his brother. Then it was Rafe's turn to attend Hogwarts and Eli was well on his way to a respectable position at the Ministry of Magic, thanks to his father's connections.
His rise through the Ministry and into the Wizengamot was no Cinderella story. Elias had been raised for politics. When other children were playing quidditch in the garden, Eli was reading law books with his father in the study and debating his way out of an early bedtime with the nanny. A family of politicians was hardly a poor place to start, but Elias put in the effort as well. He detests people who let their money alone do the work for them. He finds it lazy and unappealing, and that is part of the reason he has yet to settle down with a witch. Many of the women he dates care more for his standing as a Bulstrode and the contents of his Gringotts vault than actually making something of themselves. His short-lived girlfriends tend to be the exact opposite of his mother in that regard, though he doesn't really respect his mum for her life's ambitions either. Elias loves his fractured family but he relates more to his father than anyone else.
It was 17th May of this year, 1975, when Elias' well-deserved holiday to India was cut abruptly short. An owl had been sent by his father calling him home, it was urgent but he couldn't divulge the details over a letter. It wasn't Ben's place to explain the situation, as it wasn't his family, but Esther seemed unable to do much of anything besides sob. Rafe had died, an apparent hero attempting to save some snobby heiress from an attacker. It sounded nothing like his brother and nothing his mother nor the investigators told him seemed to be adding up. After the shock of his brother's demise had begun to settle, the holes in the story began to niggle at Elias' mind and he has since begun an investigation of his own into the people connected with his brother's apparent murder.
