Welcome to Until The End. We are a moderate Harry Potter role-playing site set in the Marauder's Era. Our plot is generally derived from details in the book, but as an AU site we do take liberties most anywhere we like. Those who died in the books can have a second chance at living, and those who lived are always at risk.
Tom Marvolo Riddle has long since disappeared and in his stead Lord Voldemort has risen, bringing a small army with him. The Ministry of Magic has thus far ignored the growing menace that is the Death Eaters and Albus Dumbledore has taken it upon himself to defend the wizarding community from an evil he knows is building. War is coming. Pick a side!

Martha lived for her trips to Godric's Hollow. They didn't happen very often, because they lived over in Edinburgh, but she tried to make them happen as much as possible. Today her father was at work, and he'd agreed for her to floo over to the sleepy little town if she met him at his work at the hospital of the day.
She supposed what drew her to the Hollow was that it was named for the founder of her house. Anywhere associated with Gryffindor must be a good place. Although the sleepy nature of the town kind of reminded her more of Hufflepuff than her own house. Still, there was definitely house pride involved in her love of the town.
As Martha walked down the main street she wondered at how it could be both a magical and muggle community - with a name like Godric's Hollow, one would think that it would be a wizard's town. And yet there they were - the muggles who lived, peaceably unaware of the nature of their quaint little town.
Today, Martha had a very particular agenda. She wasn't here to admire the quaintness of the town or visit the pretty park - which she certainly had done before - but was here for Quidditch. The Godric's Hollow Quidditch Pitch was hidden from the view of muggles as a run down construction site, and charmed with muggle-repelling spells. It was a little run down but Martha loved the place - it was where she'd joined little league quidditch when she first moved to England.
And she had invited someone - James Potter was a load of fun. He and his little gang, who Martha often referred to as 'The Boys', were always setting off pranks around the school, something which Martha could definitely get behind. She even helped them sometimes - when she wasn't busy participating in the prank war of the century. Outdoing the four pranksters was one of Martha's top priorities at school. But James - and Sirius, too, she supposed - wasn't just good for his adversity to the rules. He was on the Quidditch team with Martha and was actually quite good - not that Martha would ever tell him such. His ego was big enough already.
So today she had decided that a little quidditch practice with James couldn't hurt. And besides, she had decided she wanted to set off a prank on the train on the way back to school. As much as she would have loved to have taken The Boys by surprise, she actually didn't think she'd get away with setting up the entire train by herself.
Martha reached the Quidditch Pitch finally and grinned as she pulled her broom out of her extended backpack. She was in comfortable muggle clothes - supposedly anyway, the leggings she wore were more than a little constricting - and now slipped her Quidditch jumper over the top of her muggle shirt, because house pride was important. Martha leaned against the bleachers and waited for her friend. Surely he wouldn't be late - that was usually her job.

Summer had been underway for about a month now, the hot days of June traded in for the hotter days of July. James had been thoroughly enjoying his summer vacation thusfar, spending most of his time with Sirius, Remus, and Peter, though he did enjoy the company of other school friends whenever anyone happened to visit Godric's Hollow. A lot of Hogwarts students tended to wind up there at least once a year, the quiet town still alive with good times. James was glad that his parents had moved from busy, crowded London shortly after he was born to the suburban neighborhood. It gave him many more chances to play outdoors as a child, getting into all kinds of trouble. Something he'd yet to grow out of.
Today though, he wasn't looking for any trouble. Martha Pomfrey, one of the aforementioned school friends, had invited him to play quidditch and he was looking forward to it. They played together on the house team so they already knew they teamed up well. Not to mention all the prank-induced fun they shared. It was certainly apt to be an interesting afternoon.
Being that he was not yet 17 and unable to use magic outside of school, James resorted to walking the six blocks from his house to the quidditch pitch, his prized broom in hand. He spotted Martha leaning up against the bleachers before he'd reached the pitch and sauntered up behind her, smiling.
The little village made Martha so happy - simply being in it's simple little streets was so exciting to her. She couldn't imagine a place, other than Hogwarts of course, where she felt more at home. She could wander the quiet streets and dance in the park for hours before she got bored, and coming from Miss-easily-distracted herself that was a bold statement.
With a very small measure of reluctance, Martha left the main streets and started heading towards the pitch where she was meeting James. She wondered briefly if he'd be there, but dismissed the idea almost immediately. She was way closer to on time than usual, surely she'd beat him to the pitch.
To be perfectly honest, Martha was kind of shocked she'd managed to get James away from the rest of The Boys - she might have invited Black, too, but she was looking for fast fliers, not brute-force fliers. Sirius might have been fun though - he certainly wasn't opposed to the occasional snog, from what his reputation said - but then they'd leave poor Potter out, because of his harbouring of a god-forsaken crush on Lily Evans, and that would hardly be fair. Martha grinned at the thought of James' crush on Lily. It was sort of funny - almost like a game he played. But she'd never cave, Martha was sure; James was pretty much scum on the earth according to the muggle-born.
She had just dumped her bag on the ground after pulling out her broom and was looking up to the sky when a voice sounded from behind her. Martha really did try her hardest not to jump at the sudden intrusion of the quiet pitch, but she couldn't help the sharp twist she gave, spinning around to face her Quidditch partner.
"Gods above, Potter, don't sneak up on me like that," she said, huffing in annoyance. She took a moment to think back to the boy's words and process them and almost snorted.
"Yeah, sure, early," she scoffed. "That'd be the day. I actually just got here - late, in case you had any doubts - but you just happened to be later." She allowed herself a cheeky grin. "Guess I'm beating you already." Martha tucked her broom under her arm and pulled her hair up into a rough bun, and then, rather gracefully against the Gryffindor's usual standards, stepped one leg over her broom and pushed away from the ground.
When they were both in the air, Martha's grin returned. "Right, then," she said. "Race around the pitch?" She didn't wait for an answer. "Ready, set, go!" Martha was off, hoping she had caught James off guard enough to leave him behind in the wind.
