Welcome to Until The End. We are a moderate Harry Potter role-playing site set in the Marauder's Era. Our plot is generally derived from details in the book, but as an AU site we do take liberties most anywhere we like. Those who died in the books can have a second chance at living, and those who lived are always at risk.
Tom Marvolo Riddle has long since disappeared and in his stead Lord Voldemort has risen, bringing a small army with him. The Ministry of Magic has thus far ignored the growing menace that is the Death Eaters and Albus Dumbledore has taken it upon himself to defend the wizarding community from an evil he knows is building. War is coming. Pick a side!

Having regained himself somewhat, Christian found it easier to sit across from Alessa, the old witch with his wife's face, and listen to her insult his bride without shifting his expression. His eyes were focused narrowly on the woman but otherwise he seemed relaxed and calm as Alessa spoke. His lips curled upwards ever so slightly as she mused as to whether or not he enjoyed killing. He hadn't, not like other Death Eaters might, but it had been fun nonetheless. That was Diana's doing, no doubt.
Alessa began to ramble on about his connections to the Dark Lord. No doubt she thought herself clever being so indirect but it was obvious from the start where she was headed. He strummed his fingers impatiently on the table as she prattled on about generals and wars. Christian was considered part of Lord Voldemort's inner circle but he'd never heard of this witch before. Was she involved with Voldemort's plans or simply a bystander? Would killing her put him at risk with the Dark Lord? Did he really care at this point? Christian's ties to the dark wizard were practical more than ideological. His father had been friends - of sorts - with Voldemort. It was expected of him to align with the wizard, and what did Christian care if some muggles died along the way? There was more gold in his pocket since the Death Eaters started terrorizing muggleborn shops. The more scared people were, the more they would spend on his services. The illusion of protection was easy, and in the few instances where they were truly necessary, Christian's men could more than handle the job. He was far from a rich man. Derek's pocket money would likely put Christian's Gringott's vault to shame, but he was comfortable and he could easily provide for his family; once they were all home with him for the first time.
Christian leaned forward. "I've been propositioned by plenty of money-hungry witches before, but typically there is less fanfare than this. You want me to kill Diana - an easy enough request if it weren't for one little complication. She dies, I die. And with you not wanting to spend the rest of your days in hiding for killing such a valuable 'general' I feel we may be at an impasse." He was going to make her spell it out, despite already knowing the truth. If he killed Diana himself, it would break the life bond and his own life would be spared. He prayed it wouldn't come to that, he wasn't sure he would be able to go through with it, but there were contingencies in place if need be.

"Some women fear the fire; others become it."
Alessa's smile was enigmatic, but the flare of interest couldn't be hidden from an astute gaze. Perhaps it was a weakness of the Crawford women, but there was something about the dangerous man in front of her that caused her careful detachment to slip. Everything she wanted was within grasp. Everything she had schemed and killed for was almost hers. But the promise of a partner or a really good shag lowered her defenses. She was attracted to him, but it was more than that. She was bewitched by him.
"Not necessarily." she replied, shrugging off his comment about her being money hungry. It wasn't about the money, well it was, but it wasn't because she wanted to be rich, she only wanted what was rightfully hers by birth. She had earned the Crawford Legacy through years of servitude and cunning, but he didn't understand.
Her legs shifted, she was tired of skirting around. At the time she should have been most careful she decided to be reckless, "There's a loophole." she offered taking a delicate sip from her cup, "If you kill Diana, your life is spared."

So the crazy bitch knew the loophole in the life bond spell, but it didn't make any true difference. Diana wouldn't die, not at his hand nor anyone else's. Christian would make sure of that. "And I'm supposed to simply take your word for it? Seems like a pretty convenient loophole, for you. If this is all some rouse, you're essentially getting a two-for-one deal." He put on a fake look of consideration. "Although, as you said, putting a target on your back by killing me off, even indirectly, wouldn't benefit you... What assurances can you give me?"

"Some women fear the fire; others become it."
Her eyes sparkled with barely hidden amusement, "This isn't a sales pitch Ward. This is an offer - the only one you'll receive: Kill Diana. Take your son. Don't look back."
Suddenly the eyes that sparkled turned cold and sinister, her amusement immediately flat "Refuse. Attempt to mislead or betray me - and not only do you seal your own fate with Diana's, but your son will know nothing of his origins or heritage. I will see to it that he is placed in a muggle home with a devout family." the last threat hissed in a low tone with an iron cruelty.
"And your daughter...if indeed she does exist..." Alessa growled with seething hatred, " I will find her. I will take her as my own protege. I will tell her the truth about her parents. A Psychotic Murderer and a Death Eater - a man whose very allegiance would have him against her...it won't be too long before sides will be drawn and your very kin will be standing on the wrong side - you or those of your brotherhood crossing arms against your own child, murdered as a mudblood orphan."
